How can I send email through my Gmail account using Direct Mail?

You can configure Direct Mail to send email through your Gmail account. Please note that (as of this writing) Gmail limits the number of outgoing emails per day to 500 (more information: https://mail.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=22839). To send email though Gmail, you need to add it as another "Outgoing Mail Account".

To send email through your Gmail account using Direct Mail:

  1. If you don't already have a Gmail account, you'll need to get sign up for one at http://www.gmail.com. If you already have a Gmail account, skip to step 2.

  2. Open Direct Mail. Choose "Direct Mail > Preferences..." from the menu bar.

  3. Click the "Outgoing Mail Accounts" tab.

  4. Click the "+" button in the bottom left-hand corner of the window.

  5. Enter the following information:

  • From Name: Your name as it will appear in the email messages you send.
