How to use a web page as the body of a message

You can use a web page as the body of your message. This can be convenient if the body of your message is already posted on the Internet.

To use a web page as the body of your message:

  1. Choose Message > Import Body from Web Page...
  2. Type the URL of the web page you want to use.
  3. Click Import.

Many web pages make use of CSS and JavaScript to provide extra style or interactivity. Unfortunately, these technologies are not well-supported by most email clients. As such, when Direct Mail imports a web page, it will make the following changes to the imported HTML:

  • CSS Inlining. Any CSS declarations used in the page will be "inlined" (i.e. put directly into the relevant tag's style attribute).
  • <link> tags are stripped.
  • <script> tags are stripped.

Depending on the complexity of the web page, this process can take some time. If you do not want Direct Mail to make these edits and instead import the web page as-is, hold down the option key when clicking Import.
